IKEA love

The Dude and I helped a friend put together some IKEA furniture this weekend. The only word-based instructions in the books were in 13 languages; the English ones said that because of different wall composition, we should consult our nearest hardware/construction store professional for screwing instructions (tee hee)--the Slovenian said that in about 7 words. (Did it say "Get help now" or did it just have a very, very efficient way of making the message clear?)

Anyway, all the instructions for assembly were in pictures, which I got really excited about. It's how I think anyway, and to see the pictures was really refreshing to me. They were so clear and easy to follow. Aaaaaah, I didn't have to interpret language for something that was spatial. I didn't have to analyze the grammar and syntax (poorly written by a construction engineer instead of well written by a language engineer) of bad English--I just looked at the pictures and said, Next we put another row of short shelves in, then a long, then hammer the dowels in. And all that was summed up in one easy picture--1000 words summed up in illustrations, 1000 words in any language at all. Aaaaaahhhhh.

Okay. I'm going to need a more thorough description. Shelves, short and long... IKEA... What finish? How big? Which room? Do you like it? :)

How's it going, by the way?

How do you feel about people typing their comments in aqua? It gives me a teensy bit of a headache, but that could be because I'm not used to it. Try a darker shade.

Bobbo,

As far as the comment color goes...read what i said "I'm still working the kinks out." Actually, I didn't know that you could change the comment typing color till I typed a comment the other day and it burned my corneas. Yipes. Well, it'll still be a while till it gets cared for, as it's late now and tomorrow I've got a shift. maybe before my shift.

The IKEA shelves were for Heather, by the way, and not for us. The finished product was a square unit with 16 square cubbies. You put the bottom and one of the side walls together then put three of the upright dividers in (shorts) then a long shelf in perpindicular to the shorts and which will be parallel to the floor. Then the dowels go in, then more shorts, and so on. it was so beautifully described in lovely illustrations.

The finish was a dark dark brown, nearly black.

It was about 5 feet square.

I do like it, but it wouldn't fit in our home. It's too modern and sleek looking for us.

And it's not in our home so I won't tell you the details of heather's furniture placement. If you want to know, ask her.

things are ok. Call sometime.

And this aqua is giving me a headache too. maybe I'll do like crumley dot org and do the background in this box a dark color and the type a light color. Eh?

Hey, I will call when I get the chance. I was just working away and suddenly thought of how much you remind me of this friend: http://www.xanga.com/academic_prostitution.

I reckon Myers-Briggs would give you the same personality score.

Just wanted to check in with a random comment. Peace!
